What a film! Produced in South Africa, Bang Bang Club is
one of its kinds to think it’s based on true story. It is very difficult to
take this kind of story and turn it to a movie. Although it not as aggressive
as the book was it told to the world. The actors were convincing in their
portrayal of the four photo journalists, some people complaints about the
accents of some of the actors, saying they did not sound South African.
When I saw a trailer of this movie at Maponya Mall
Ster-Kinekor, I was really impressed with the standard of cinematography. I
told myself that it must see! It gives the South African youth an opportunity
to understand their background in a very special way. While giving the
highlights of South African townships before the first democratic elections, it
also shows motivate young people in the media industry. The Journalist who goes
all out and risks their lives achieves their dream.
You do not need to ask yourself many questions about the
message of this movie. It is clear and straight forward: the freedom South
Africa has was not free. It was obtained through blood. The lives of the people
not just freedom fighter but independent
journalists who also lost their lives to tell the truth.
